Echium pininana

An evergreen shrub that has a biennial habit, this means it will flower in it's second year of growth although sometimes they take three years. it will produce a tall flower spike up to 5m tall. This will consist of thousands of tiny blue funnel shaped flowers that are loved by the bees. The leaves can get up to 60cm long and are quite spectacular in their own right. It's best planted in a free draining soil in full sun. Protect from hard frosts. Hardy to minus 5c
