Elegia capensis

This is member of the restio family. They are native to South Africa and are great evergreen architectural plants. This is one of the faster growing varieties, producing dark brown flower heads at the tip of the stems during the summer. Height 2m and spread 2m. Plant in a moisture retentive soil that doesn't waterlog in the winter. They make great feature plants weather they are in a border or grown in a container on your patio for an exotic feel. If grown in a container or a pot never let the pot dry out completely. The best situation is a sunny spot. Hardy to minus 6c.
