This rare plant is a decorative shrub with showy bottlebrush type flowers that are a greenish-yellow in colour. It is a member of the Protea family and grows with two different types of leaves. The lower leaves are dissected, with the upper half of each leaf slenderly divided and tipped with a red colouration. The leaves nearer the tops of the stems are entire and spatula shaped and reduce in size as you get nearer to the tops of the stems.
As it is in the Proteaceae family it is best planted in a sunny position, in free draining acidic soil. They also make great container plants so that they can be protected from severe frosts. A great plant to add to any collection and will compliment any Leucadendron, Leucospermum, Banksia and Protea.
