Commonly known as the old man Banksia. This was one of the first four Banksia collected by Sir Joseph Banks in 1770. The lovely serrated dark green leaves show off the blue-grey/yellow flower spikes when the appear in the summer on branches that are 1 to 2 years old. Each cylindrical flower is 10cm wide and 20cm tall. If left to grow unattended the plant will get to 3m+ but can be pruned to 1 to 2m if so required. Best grown in full sun in an acidic soil that is free draining but if watered when its young will grow quicker.
