Penberth Plants is owned and run solely by me, Claire Batten.

After 25 years of working together Jeff Rowe has retired from the business. 

I have over 30 years experience working in horticulture, starting at Tresco Abby Gardens as work experience whilst studying for my RHS exams, where I gained my life long obsession with Protea and succulents. Followed by my first job in the then Penwith District council in the parks and gardens department.

Propagation has always been my first love and in 2002 had the opportunity to work at Trewidden wholesale nursery, subsequently taking the reins of the business alongside Jeff.  Here we steered the nursery in a different direction and started exhibiting at local and RHS flower shows where we achieved many Gold medals.

After a few ups and down the opportunity arose to relocate the business Penberth with new branding and a name change.  We continued to exhibit at RHS shows and in 2017 achieved the prestigious award of Best Exhibit in the Floral Marquee at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Looking forward, my aim is to still produce high quality interesting plants predominantly for the website, but perhaps with a few plant fairs and flower shows sprinkled in!
