The broad leaved conebush. This Leucadendron occurs on the coastal mountains in the South Western part of the Western Cape of South Africa. Growing on stony sandstone slopes and often on high altitude moist sites. An attractive member of the Protea family reaching 1.5m in height and 1m spread. The elliptical leaves are smooth and shiny and during the late summer the upper leaves form bright yellow involucres flushed with orange and red. The globose fruiting heads are broad and fairly glabrous bracts.
