Hakea orthorrhyncha

Commonly known as the bird beak Hakea growing in Western Australia. Bright red flowers appear in axillary clusters in the leaf nodes on the older branches from early winter through to spring. Following the flowers the smooth woody fruit appear. The leaves can vary, needle like, flat and sometimes forked, curved or straight ending in a sharp tip 7 - 18cm long. Height 2.5m and spread 1.5m.
